Documentary and cultural exhibition.The museum is a small, one-story, asymmetrical house with a wooden veranda. The house represents the characteristic construction and architecture of the early Revival period. The traditional interior of the room where Hadji Dimitar was born was completely restored. So were the guest room, kitchen, and wine cellar, which are typical for Sliven .

At the end of 18th C. the house of the Assenovi family was built in the Sliven neighborhood "Kloutsohor"; the great Bulgarian rebel- the legendary voivoda (leader) Hadji Dimitar was born in this house on 10th Мay, 1840.

In 1935 the first museum collection was opened, and it was eventually grew into an exposition in 1955.

The museum organizes variety of educational and scientific acitivities.
