Emfiedjiev house is an architectural monument from the Renaissance period. It was built in 1874 and belonged to Christo Lazov-Kazandjiata, a first master of Kyustendil guild and an outstanding champion of the Bulgarian church society in the town. It is situated in the center of the old Kyustendil quarter "Lozenets" (Baglak), inhabited with better-off Bulgarians-patriots. After it was restored by architect Basil Slokoski`s project it has been adapted as museum where exposition "Town way of living and culture of Kyustendil population from the end of 19th and the beginning of the 20th c." has been arranged. The house has its historic significance for the town. In two of the rooms which housed the staff of the IV Ulanian Harkov regiment, who liberated Kyustendil on January 30, 1878 from the Ottomans, the expositions represent working atmosphere of its heads. The architectural ensemble of the Emfiedjiev house has П-formed plan in two parts-dwelling and farming ones which have respectively yards surrounded by a huge stone walls. The building is with one story with semi-dug cellars. The dwelling part is a symmetric Renaissance house in Plovdiv style.
